Biography

Colton is an associate in the Investment Management Practice Group. He focuses on the structuring, formation, and ongoing operation of private investment funds and their advisers implementing various strategies—including private equity, venture capital, hedge, credit, real estate, energy, and other alternative assets.

His experience includes forming a variety of fund families and related vehicles, including master-feeder structures, parallel funds, and fund-of-ones. In addition to fund formation and sponsor-side representation, Colton also works with institutional investors on investments in private funds and assists with joint ventures and other strategic transactions. Colton also assists various clients with regulatory compliance, including the preparation of securities filings with the SEC, such as Schedule 13G, Form 13H, Form 13F, Form D and Form ADV.

Prior to joining the firm, Colton interned with a judge on each of the Delaware Court of Chancery, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, and U.S. District Court. Prior to law school, Colton worked as an equity options trader and licensed stockbroker.
